1. My Carrera RC car sets off on its own. Why?

On 2.4 GHz D/P models:

please follow the sequence when starting up.

1) Switch on the transmitter,

2) then switch on the car.

 

When switching off after use, please reverse the order.

 

On 27 MHz models:

please check whether the transmitter aerial is faulty or possibly not fully extended. If another RC model is anywhere in the vicinity, make sure that they are not using the same frequency. If they are, please change your frequency.

2. Where can I operate my Carrera RC model?

The Carrera RC car is designed for hobby purposes and may only be used on tracks or in places designated for the purpose. It should never be run in long or wet grass or through puddles.

 

WARNING! Never use the Carrera RC car on roads. Never use it in the vicinity of rivers, ponds or lakes, to avoid the possibility of it falling in the water.

3. Can I also run my Carrera RC car on grass or in a field?

Never run on grass surfaces, as the grass may wind itself around the axles and cause the engine to overheat.

 

4. My Carrera RC car has a radio malfunction. What might be the reason?

Do not run the Carrera RC model under high-tension power lines or radio/TV transmitter masts, or during thunderstorms! Atmospheric interference may lead to signal reception problems

 

5. Can I run my Carrera RC model when it is raining or in the snow?

No, you should never run the Carrera RC model in the rain or snow.

6. What must I do before starting?

On 2.4 GHz D/P models:

The Carrera RC model and the controller are bound at the factory. If to start with there are communication problems between the Carrera RC car and the controller, re-bind the car. The Carrera RC car and the control set are re-bound by pressing the binding button on the underside of the chassis for at least three seconds. Please ensure that both the control set and the Carrera RC car are switched on using the ON/OFF switch for this procedure.

 

On 27 MHz model:

First make sure nobody else is using the same frequency in the area where you are operating. To avoid interference and to ensure that your Carrera RC car can respond to the controller, make sure the same frequency is set on the car as well as on the controller (A/B/C). The frequency switch on the car is located in the battery holder, and on the controller, on its top surface. The use of different channels enables three cars to be operated at the same time.

 

The controller aerial should be extended fully. Then switch the Carrera RC car ON at the ON/OFF switch. The Carrera RC car has two speeds: also use the ON/OFF switch to set the car for training indoor mode.

 

Adjusting the steering: if the Carrera RC car seems to be pulling to the left or the right, simply adjust the tracking with the switch on the underside of the car.

7. Must I clean my Carrera RC car after running it?

It is recommended you clean your Carrera RC after every use to ensure problem-free operation. Never use caustic or corrosive substances for this purpose.

1) Check the paddle rod (Item No. 990198) at the upper end of the rotor shaft is correctly fixed.

 

To minimise damage to the rotor in the event of a crash, it is fixed with a round-headed joint which releases from the rotor shaft and/or the top rotor when necessary.

 

2) Fix the paddle rod above vertically in the rotor shaft seating. Make sure that the paddle rod latches in properly.

 

3) At the side, fix the paddle rod guide to one of the two rounded heads above the upper rotor.

 

Recheck that the parts just fitted are firmly fixed in place. If necessary, then retrim the helicopter until it regains its stable attitude when hovering, without the controls being touched. In case of doubt, the user manual will help you.

 

9. My Carrera RC helicopter Sky Hunter (501001) spins around the room out of control as soon as I push the accelerator lever upwards. What can I do?

1) Check the paddle rod (990197) at the upper end of the rotor shaft is correctly fixed.

10. My helicopter (Red Eagle 501002/Sky Hunter 501001) does not react to the movements I make with the control unit / does not take off. What can I do?

Follow this ‘pre-flight checklist’ to prepare the helicopter for take-off:

 

1) Slot in the power pack in the guide provided underneath the helicopter.

2) Place the charged helicopter on a flat surface and give the helicopter a few moments until the system is correctly initialised and ready for operation.

3) The LED in the helicopter now flashes in a rhythmically accelerating sequence.

4) Slowly and carefully move the left joystick upwards and downwards twice to activate the existing connection.

5) The LED in the helicopter should now be continuously lit, and the helicopter is now ready for action.

6) If the helicopter does not work at all, the instruction manual will help you to bind the controller with the helicopter.

11. How do I trim my 4-channel Carrera RC helicopter?

Ensuring the helicopter is correctly trimmed is the basic requirement for stable flight operation. This fine tuning requires patience and a fine sense of touch. Please follow these instructions.

 

Move the throttle on the controller upwards carefully and allow the helicopter to rise 30 cm – 80 cm into the air.

 

1. If while hovering the helicopter flies forward or backwards, to the left or to the right, without moving the right/left lever, proceed as follows:

 

If the helicopter moves to the left either quickly or slowly, push the bottom right trimmer on the controller for right/left lean step-by-step to the right. If the helicopter moves to the right, push the bottom right trimmer for right/left lean step-by-step to the left.

 

2. If while hovering the helicopter remains above one spot and rotates either clockwise or anticlockwise without moving the tail-wheel lever

(circular rotation), proceed as follows:

 

If the helicopter rotates to the left around its own axis, whether quickly or slowly, push the bottom left trimmer on the controller for the tail end (circular rotation) to the right step-by-step. If the helicopter rotates to the right, push the trimmer for the tail end (circular rotation) to the left step-by-step.

 

3. If while hovering the helicopter moves forwards or backwards without touching the forwards/backwards lever, proceed as follows:

 

If the helicopter moves forwards quickly or slowly, push the upper right forwards/backwards trimmer on the controller down step-by-step. If the helicopter moves backwards, push the forwards/backwards trimmer upwards step-by-step.

 

12. How do I trim my 3-channel Carrera RC helicopter?

Ensuring the helicopter is correctly trimmed is the basic requirement for stable flight operation. This fine tuning requires patience and a fine sense of touch. Please follow these instructions.

 

Move the throttle on the controller upwards carefully and allow the helicopter to rise 30 cm – 80 cm into the air.

 

1. If while hovering the helicopter rotates around its own axis by itself, either clockwise or anticlockwise, without you touching the tail rotor lever (circular rotation), proceed as follows:

 

If the helicopter rotates to the left, whether quickly or slowly, push the bottom right trimmer for the tail rotor (circular rotation) to the right step-by-step. If the helicopter rotates to the right, push the trimmer (circular rotation) to the left step-by-step.

 

2. If while hovering the helicopter moves forwards or backwards without you touching the forwards/backwards lever, proceed as follows:

 

If the helicopter moves forwards by itself, either quickly or slowly, push the upper right forwards/backwards trimmer down step-by-step. If the helicopter moves backwards, press the forwards/backwards trimmer upwards step-by-step.

 

 

13. My Ferrari Arno XI (300005) boat is too slow. What can I do?

As with the real, full-scale Ferrari speedboat, full speed can only be achieved by gliding across a flat, smooth water surface. Strong winds and currents prevent the boat from reaching the speeds required for entering the gliding phase. For maximum enjoyment, only use this model in calm waters and when the wind is completely still.

14. How can I speed up or slow down the Falshöft (301001, 301005)?

Various speeds can be achieved by pressing the accelerator for longer or shorter periods. Top speed is achieved by keeping the accelerator pressed down.

15. Why is the Falshöft (301001) described as a 27 MHz D/P model?

The load-dependent digital twin motor drive control can also be described as a digital proportional system. However it does not share any similarities with the 2.4 GHz D/P controls which allow complete freedom when steering and accelerating. For this reason, from 2012 to avoid confusion the Falshöft will be listed as a 27MHz product.

16. Can I change the setting of a Carrera RC helicopter from mode 2 to mode 1?

No. Unfortunately it is not possible to change the controls from mode 2 to mode 1.

17. My 27 MHz vehicle has a very limited control range. What can I do?

Check to see if the aerial on the control unit has been screwed in as far as is possible. Extend the aerial completely. Use the transparent aerial tube provided in the packaging for the aerial on the vehicle, according to model.

On the undercarriage of the vehicle there is a special adjustment switch for ensuring the vehicle drives straight ahead without using the steering lever on the control set. If the vehicle drives to the left, move the switch further to the right. If the vehicle drives to the right, move the switch further to the left.

Check the undercarriage to make sure the adjustment switch has not been knocked out of position.

20. The water jet on my Watergun vehicle (142001, 142000, 140001, 140015) does not spray water. What can I do?

Check to see if there is enough water in the tank and fill the tank with water if necessary.

 

Keep pressing the water gun button on the vehicle for at least 1-2 minutes and wait until water shoots out of the gun. Repeat this procedure if necessary.

21. My helicopter Thunder Storm (501004) or Green Chopper (501003) helicopter can’t be flown forwards or backwards. What can I do?

Check to ensure the helicopter’s tail rotor spins when you move the right-hand joystick forwards or backwards. You may need to order corresponding spare parts from your licensed dealer.

22. My Carrera RC helicopter (501001, 501002, 501003, 501004, 501006) spins around the room out of control as soon as I push the accelerator lever upwards. What can I do?

Check to ensure the paddle rod is connected to the blade holder with one guide rod. Due to the need for balance the second ball-and-socket joints on the paddle rod and blade holder are also set up, but do not require a guide rod.

Please check to ensure the pin for the paddle rod mounting is still attached. If it is missing, you can order the pin (410096) from your local dealer.

24. My 2.4 GHz Servo Tronic vehicle won’t drive although the vehicle itself and the control set are ‘ON’ and the status LEDs are lit up/flashing. What can I do?

Switch on the vehicle first, then the control set. The vehicle and the control set will then link automatically. As soon as car and controller are linked, the status LEDs on the vehicle and control set will light up continuously.

25. My 2.4 GHz Servo Tronic vehicle won’t let me steer it and will only allow me to drive forwards and backwards. What can I do?

Check whether the battery is empty and needs recharging.

Turn the car onto its back so that the wheels are facing upwards. First switch on the control set, then the car. Enter the following settings using the control set display:

 

1) Standard display -> stopwatch

Press for 3 seconds to access the submenu.

2) Press once to jump past the LAP-menu.

3) Press once to jump past the race-against-the-clock menu.

4) SP = TH Trimming = forwards/backwards trimming

Turn the knob to set the display value to 0.

Press once to progress to the next point on the menu.

5) AL = ST trimming = left/right trimming

Turn the knob to set the display value to 0.

To save – press the knob down for 3 seconds.

You should now be back in the standard display mode.

6) Switch off the control set and the car. After approximately 10 seconds the control set and car can be switched on again.

7) Repeat the above points 1 to 6 – this time setting the SP & AL values to 1 or 2.

8) Switch off the control set and the car.

9) After approximately 10 seconds the control set and car can be switched on again.

10) Repeat instructions 1 to 6 – but this time setting the SP & AL values to 0.

11) Switch off the control set and the car.

12) After approximately 10 seconds switch on the control set and car again.

 

Your car should no longer jerk. Now trim the car to ensure it drives straight ahead (AL) and so that it does not move forwards and backwards (SP) when the accelerator is not being pressed.

 

27. Can I use normal batteries instead of the rechargeable ones?

No, please only use the original Carrera RC Li-Ion rechargeable batteries. This is the only way to ensure trouble-free operation. All rechargeable batteries and suitable chargers are to be found at your local dealer.

 

28. How do I know when my battery is charging correctly?

When the battery has been connected correctly and the recharging process is running normally the red light should be on constantly. Once the battery is fully recharged, the red LED light switches to green. The battery can now be removed and installed in your Carrera RC car.

29. What is the correct way to connect the battery to recharge it?

First connect up the Carrera RC battery to the charger. The connecting section between the battery and the charger has been designed to make it impossible to link up the poles with reversed polarity. Plug the charger into the mains and switch on.

30. How do I insert the battery correctly?

Use a screwdriver to remove the cover of the battery holder on your Carrera RC car. Connect the end of the wire from the Carrera RC car to the battery, then insert the battery. Close the cover with the screwdriver.

 

31. Must I remove the battery from the car after I have finished using it?

Yes, you are recommended to remove or disconnect the battery.

 

32. What must I remember when using Carrera RC Lithium Ion batteries for vehicles & boats, and Lithium polymer batteries for helicopters?

To avoid the risk of deep discharge, the battery must always be recharged after use. Please ensure there is a break of approximately 20 minutes between using the car and recharging the battery to allow the battery to cool. Recharge the battery occasionally, say every 2-3 months. Failure to follow the above battery care instructions correctly can lead to operational faults.

33. Where and how should the battery be inserted into the control unit?

In 2.4 GHz D/P models:

Press the release button on the front of the control unit and remove the battery holder from the control unit. When inserting the batteries make sure the poles are connected correctly. Put the battery holder back in the control unit and click it into place.

 

In 27 MHz models:

Unscrew the cover of the battery holder on the control unit and insert the 9V block. When inserting the 9V block make sure the poles are connected correctly. Close the cover again with a screwdriver.

34. How do I know the control set is switched on?

On 2.4 GHz D/P models the red LED lights light up at the front of the control unit.

35. Where is the High Speed Turbo Button?

Depending on the model, the High Speed Turbo Function is activated by pressing the button on the left (or right) side of the control unit.

36. How can I convert the control unit from right-handed to left-handed operation?

Valid for 2.4 GHz D/P models only!

 

Only 2.4 GHz D/P control units can be converted for left-handers.

 

To reposition the steering unit, undo the three screws on the inside of the unit and reposition them on the opposite side of the unit, removing the cover on the opposite side and fitting the steering wheel on this side. Then retighten the three inside fixing screws. Finished!

 

37. What functions are available with the control unit for 2.4 GHz D/P models?

a) TH TRIMM - Fine-tuning your speed:

This is an opportunity to change the braking characteristics of your car.

 

b) Steering TRIMM - Fine-tuning the steering

If the car is not travelling straight this function can be used to fine tune the steering.

 

c) Display functions

Stopwatch and lap counter functions

 

d) Light on/off

The light can be switched on and off by using the upper button at the front of the control unit

 

e) On/off-road mode

On/off-road mode can be activated by pressing the middle button at the front of the control set. Can be switched while you drive.

 

f) Steering TRIMM - Fine-tuning the steering

If the car is not travelling straight this function can be used to fine tune the steering.

38. My control unit is damaged - what can I do?

Control units and spare parts (aerials and battery compartment covers) are available from your local retailer.

39. The aerial is broken off on my control unit, what can I do?

40. There is no aerial included with the control unit I ordered (900001, 900002).
